About Me
For those that know me, it comes as no surprise that I enjoy having a blog. There has always been something I've loved about the written word ever since I was a little girl. I have a particular fondness for a carefully crafted sentence, or a well-written poem. I love how a piece of notebook paper looks when it is filled top to bottom with hand-written words. So there has always been a certain joy in pouring my heart out onto paper. I have always been able to think more clearly when I write my thoughts; I have always felt more grounded in writing out my feelings: joyful, troubling, or otherwise. In sharing my writing, I am able to find a familiar and comforting balm for my soul. In it I am able to find joy.
My name is Kelsey Joy. I was born and raised in Northwest Iowa and developed a love for writing when I was ten years old. From short stories, to poems, essays, and everything in between, I continued to polish my writing abilities throughout my school years, which culminated in a BSN degree from Dordt College in the spring of 2016. In the fall of 2016 I married my husband Darren, and now live in Northwest Washington near his hometown. I enjoy being a busy stay-at-home mother to Camden, Aria, and Kallan. The other members of our family are Captain the German Shepherd and Eddie the cat.
In June of 2021, I published my first children's book, God Made Blue. I began writing this book for my two children, hoping and praying that they will come to know and love their Heavenly Father. I recently published my second children's book, God Made Sunshine, after my third child was born. I hope this blog will be used as another means to get my books into many precious little sets of hands. I pray that all of God's children, young and old, are always inspired to marvel at the wonderful works of His hands. My writing reminds me to do that; I hope it does for you, too.
