My Hopeful Grieving Prayer

God, here I am again tonight

I’m so glad You never sleep

You’ve heard this prayer a thousand times

You’ve seen this child weep.

But I know that You’ve caught every tear

Safely in Your hand

And that’s where my dear friend rests tonight

According to Your plan

I’ll trust with all my heart

That her place now is with You

But could You please explain to me

How you need her more than I do

Yet I know deep down inside

That You’re holding her in one arm

Safe from pain, hurt and tears

So far from any harm

Then I praise You God, that You are mighty

And strong enough to be

Reaching down with the other arm

To safely cradle me.

So give her a hug tonight

And please God, let her know

How much I’ve begun to lean on You

And how much I’ve begun to grow.

Tell her I’ll be strong

And be the best that I can be

And even when the tears come back,

I’ll still praise You joyfully

For I know that she loves me,

And God, I know You love me too

So I just can’t wait for the day

When I get to be with both of you.
