The Potter and the Clay

Sin is imperfection. Sin is weakness. Sin is temptation. Sin is doubt, pride, lies, and shortcomings. Sin is pushing God away and welcoming evil. On those days when you take a good look at your life and get discouraged at the long list of imperfections and weaknesses and shortcomings, decide to try and change them. Sit down with the disfigured lump of clay that is your life and get to work. At first you’re going to want to work alone and form the clay by yourself, using your own ideas and shortcuts and quick-fixes. But you’ll quickly realize that you’re going to need help. You’ll realize you’ve got to follow God’s plan for that lump of clay, because He’s the only one who knows how to make it a perfect vase. The beautiful thing is that the more you match your life to the pattern He laid out in His Word, the more you’ll realize it was the design you were wanting all along. Not only that, but it was more than you could have ever imagined.

Isaiah 64:8 – “But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”
